Launch of NetSpecific.net
This Friday, 26 October an exhibition website for net-based art will be launched on www.netspecific.net (this link will be activated on Friday)
The exhibition, curated by Tina Mariane Krogh Madsen, is titled Communication Paths / Kommunikations stier and will focus on net communication. The artworks are specially produced for this exhibition by the following artists: 0100101110101101.ORG / Eva & Franco Mattes (I), JODI (B/NL), Michelle Teran (CA), Jens Wunderling & Philipp Bosch (DE), Anders Bojen & Kristoffer Ørum (DK).
Behind the project is the Museum of Contemporary Art in Roskilde, Denmark. The museum wish to extend their exhibition area to include the Internet as exhibition space but also involving net-based art as an art form.
I find this initiative very welcoming, as it has been less focus on this art form in general lately. It is also welcoming that a museum stands behind it, that they promote this genre as well as more traditional art forms.
In conjunction with the launch, there will be a symposium relating to net-based art in general with talks and performances. Among others Jodi will give a performance and Michelle Teran will give a talk about her work. For a complete program, please visit the website.
Launch and symposium will take place at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Roskilde, Denmark, 26 October 2012, 3 p.m. – 7 p.m.
I will soon write a longer article about Net.Specific and net-based art in general.
